This month, high-achieving Indigenous students in Years 10-12 will gain some real-world insight into how natural disasters are prepared for, responded to, and recovered from as part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aspirations Program (ATSIAP) State Final academic challenge.

Finalists will research natural disasters that impact their local communities, and develop communications for a selected target audience.

The challenge has been collaboratively designed by the department, Griffith University and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, providing students the opportunity to explore various careers whilst fostering tertiary aspirations.

ATSIAP aims to develop students' critical and creative thinking through solving real-life problems. For more information on ATSIAP for 2023, contact atsiap@qed,qld.gov.au or (07) 3513 5812.
